AZ series alloys: The main alloy grade in this series is AZ91, which combines good casting properties and mechanical properties. It is currently the most widely used die-cast magnesium alloy and can be used for die-casting complex-shaped thin-walled parts. Moreover, AZ91D has excellent salt spray corrosion resistance, even better than that of die-cast aluminum alloys.
AM series alloys: The main alloy grades in this series are AM60 and AM50. Their lower aluminum content results in less precipitation of aluminum-containing secondary compounds in the alloy, thus giving the alloy higher plasticity and toughness, but with a slight reduction in strength.
AS series alloys: The main alloy grades in this series include AS41A, AS41XB, and AS21. This series of alloys has an even lower aluminum content. Silicon forms Mg₂Si phases in Mg-Al-Si alloys, which have high melting point, high hardness, low density, and low thermal expansion, and are beneficial for improving the high-temperature resistance of the alloy.
